Reed Engineering are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join a leading independent provider of Satellite Communications and IT managed solutions. With a heritage of innovation and a commitment to customer service, this role supports the Head of Product and Marketing and acts as the technical expert for all products and services.

Day to Day of the role:

• Carry out field service and repairs on all scoped equipment & systems.

• Perform standard & special to type field service installations, testing, and commissioning.

• Liaise with customers prior to conducting field duties.

• Prepare test equipment, tools, spares, and installation materials prior to mobilisation, which may be at short notice.

• Provide accurate and detailed technical reports for all activities and give feedback to facilitate future service planning and improvements.

• Submit time sheets and expense sheets for each activity, coding accordingly for customer charging where appropriate.

• Maintain inventory of materials and test equipment, recording usage and reinstatement.

• Ensure returnable unused spares and/or defective spares are returned promptly with correct paperwork.

• Maintain and be accountable for all allocated vehicles, IT equipment, mobile phones, test instruments, and tools.

• Organise own travel arrangements when outside the Redhill base.

• Maintain technical knowledge and familiarisation with company products.

• Provide competent Datacoms and Satcom repair, test, equipment build, and support for the Workshop as required.

• Conduct GMDSS surveys.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

• Presentable and articulate, able to liaise with yacht captains and onboard specialist staff for DVB field work.

• Good ‘O’ Level or equivalent standard education.

• Preferably a skill base or education/qualification in IT.

• Clean current UK Driving Licence.

• GMDSS, GOC, Offshore Survival Certificates (BOSIET & OLF) preferred.

• Ability to achieve National Security Accreditation to SC or DV.

• Willingness for regular travel.

• Ability to obtain SC Clearance (Essential).
