SALARY: Competitive + Overtime + Benefits

LOCATION: Batley, West Yorkshire (WF17) - flexibility required to travel and work away from home for varying periods of time

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 39 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Overtime available

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Field Service Engineer / Vehicle Maintenance Technician with previous experience in vehicle maintenance and/or hydraulic and electrical systems, good fault diagnosis and repair skills, who is self-motivated with excellent communication skills.

Working as the Field Service Engineer / Vehicle Maintenance Technician you will be adhering to customer specifications precisely and within set time scales, often at high levels and additionally from low levels and inspection pits.

As the Field Service Engineer / Vehicle Maintenance Technician you will be following engineering / electrical drawings as well as diagnosing faults and problems and carrying out permanent or temporary repairs as required to the customers satisfaction.

A background in HGV commercial vehicles/mechanical engineering would be preferred.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Field Service Engineer / Vehicle Maintenance Technician will include:

  • Follow engineering/electrical drawings
  • Diagnose faults and problems and carry out permanent or temporary repairs as required to the customers satisfaction
  • Work away from the base unsupervised and in such be responsible for checking your own work
  • Available sometimes at short notice to travel and work away from home for varying periods of time
  • Present a good Company image to customers both on and off site. This is to include engineering skills, personal presentation, and general behaviour
  • Complete the necessary paperwork as laid down by Company procedure for Engineering/Vehicle records, personal expenditure and time keeping records
  • Work on a wide variety of fire appliances and equipment including pumps, hydraulics, and chassis services

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in vehicle maintenance and/or hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Self-motivated
  • Good communication skills
  • Product knowledge
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Ability to prioritise
  • A background in HGV commercial vehicles/mechanical engineering would be preferred
