This is an outstanding secondary school situated in the vibrant Ward of Yardley, Birmingham. As a Female PE Teacher, you will play a vital role in promoting physical health, wellbeing, and teamwork among the students. Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, as well as contributing to extracurricular sports programs. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that the successful candidate is female, as they will be responsible for changing room duties, ensuring the safety and comfort of the girls. This is a permanent position offering an exciting opportunity for career growth within this outstanding school community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons that cater to the diverse abilities and interests of students.
  • Promote physical literacy, fundamental movement skills, and a love for sport and exercise.
  • Organise and oversee extracurricular sports activities, fostering a culture of participation and excellence.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students during physical education sessions, including supervision of changing rooms.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop integrated schemes of work that align with the national curriculum for PE.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development as athletes and individuals.

The National Curriculum for PE aims to develop students' physical competence, confidence, and knowledge of health and fitness. Key areas of focus include:
  • Developing skills in a range of physical activities, including team sports, individual sports, and outdoor pursuits.
  • Understanding the principles of fitness and how to lead a healthy lifestyle.
  • Participating in competitive sports and activities, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.
  • Exploring the benefits of physical activity for mental health and wellbeing.

Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or currently undergoing Initial Teacher Training (ITT) leading to QTS.
  • Specialism in Physical Education or relevant qualifications/experience in sports coaching.
  • A passion for promoting physical health, wellbeing, and active lifestyles among young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of female students and a commitment to ensuring their safety and comfort during changing room duties.
