Pay rate: £14.18 per hour (weekly pay)
Shift Pattern:
2:1 Care across the shifts below:
  • Monday - Friday Days 3pm - 10pm & Nights 10pm - 9:30am
  • Friday Night 10pm - 8am
  • Saturday & Sunday Days 8am-10pm
  • Saturday NIGHT 10pm - 10am
  • Sunday NIGHT 10pm - 9:30am 
Location: Liverpool
Requirements: UK driver’s license with access to own vehicle, Learning Disability and Autism  experience, Mental health background dealing with complex behaviours. 

About the role  The role will be supporting an autistic lady in her twenties, she also has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Epilepsy. Currently residing in the city centre area of Liverpool, the person we support is sociable and likes to help others, go to the hydrotherapy pool and wants to explore other hobbies and interests. Due to the requirements of the person we support, we are only able to accept female applicants only.

They are supported on a 2:1 staffing ratio over a 24-hour period.  
Staff members will also need to ensure she remains safe and that her physical health needs are managed effectively.

Due to the clients communication needs, she requires staff members who can articulate clearly and confidently to avoid any miscommunication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing essential epilepsy support to ensure well-being and safety.
  • Provide compassionate and person-centred care tailoring support to her unique needs and preferences.
  • Assist with daily living activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment that accommodates both learning and emotional requirements.
  • Implement and monitor medication administration, adhering to prescribed schedules and documenting any relevant observations or changes in health.
  • Employ effective communication strategies to facilitate understanding and manage emotional needs, fostering a positive and trusting relationship.
  • Stay vigilant and respond appropriately to epilepsy-related incidents, possessing the knowledge and skills to provide immediate assistance and seek medical attention if necessary.
  • Foster independence by encouraging skill development and participation in activities that align with the individual's abilities and interests.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily logs and incident reports, to ensure comprehensive documentation of care provided and any notable changes in behavior or health.
  • Attend relevant training sessions to stay updated on best practices and approaches for supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism and epilepsy.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere that respects the individual's autonomy, choices, and dignity, fostering an environment conducive to personal growth and well-being.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Empathy and Compassion: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals with learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy, and emotional needs, and approach care with empathy and compassion.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicate with the individual, their family, and healthcare professionals, utilising clear and respectful language to ensure comprehension and collaboration in care.
  • Medication Management: Possess knowledge and competence in administering medications, following prescribed schedules, and accurately documenting medication administration and any observed side effects.
  • Crisis Management: Skilled in recognising and appropriately responding to epilepsy-related incidents or emotional crises, including the ability to remain calm and seek medical assistance when necessary.
  • Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable in adjusting care strategies based on the evolving needs and preferences of the individual, demonstrating a responsive and person-centred approach.
  • Patience and Understanding: Exhibit patience in supporting individuals through their learning and emotional challenges, understanding that progress may occur at different rates for each person.
  • Must have a UK driver's license with access to own vehicle.
