Matching Staff Solutions are working alongside our established client to find Farm Manager. This role is on a contract starting in May until October 2024 to cover long term sickness. You will be responsible for the management and care of animals, birds, farm infrastructure and grounds at Grimsbury Farm.

The Role

Your main duties will include:

  • Plan and manage the welfare of all animals and birds at the farm through routine and responsive inspection and care, including feeding, cleaning and watering.
  • Provide strong and clear leadership of the farm staff team and volunteers.
  • Monitor and be responsible for overseeing site security and bio security measures for the safety of the animals, visiting members of the public, site partners and staff.
  • Accountable for compliance with Government legislation and requirements related to farm management.
  • Carry out basic maintenance of farm buildings, boundaries, grassland management, biosecurity features, fences, gates and animal pens for the safety and welfare of animals and the public.
  • Actively encourage and be involved with community and volunteer involvement on the farm including work supervision.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Considerable working knowledge of farm animal welfare, farm management and relevant farming techniques.
  • Understanding of appropriate legislation and good practise.
  • Experience of working with farm machinery.
  • A formal qualification in farm management and conservation or equivalent to a NVQ level 3 or higher.
  • Ability to carry out minor repairs to farm infrastructure including animal shelters, fencing and gates.
  • Experience of monitoring budgets, financial information and resources.
  • Experience and the ability to supervise or motivate and develop a team.
