Family Lawyer (Head of Department)

Location: Middlesbrough

Job Type: Full or Part time

Salary: Competitive

Reed are exclusively working with a local family-run firm who are known for the quality care they deliver to their clients. The firm specialises in Criminal Defence and Family/Children Law, and are looking for a Family Solicitor to join their team and head up the Family department. You would have responsibility for running the team whilst also managing your own caseload of work with a focus on Care and Child Protection cases.

Day to day of the role:

  • Managing your own caseload in family law matters with a particular focus on Care and Child Protection cases.
  • Overseeing the running of the Family team to ensure a high-quality service is delivered to clients.
  • Maintaining high standards in accordance with the Legal Aid Agency Family Contract and Specialist Quality Mark requirements.
  • Developing and nurturing internal and external relationships to promote the firm.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in Family Law team, candidate who have previously managed a team or who are looking to step up into the role will be considered.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Legal Aid and the CCMS System.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Developed advocacy skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and drive.
  • Ability to run and develop your own caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative approach with a focus on maintaining excellent relationships.
  • Membership of Resolution and/or Panel Memberships would be advantageous but is not essential.
