We are looking for a Facilities Maintenance Assistant to undertake the following duties on a day-to-day basis:

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake general building maintenance & repairs throughout our buildings.
  • Maintaining commercial kitchens plant & equipment.
  • Maintaining kitchens, bathroom plumbing, sanitary ware & drainage.
  • Basic carpentry, door hinges & locks. Plastering, tiling, Painting & decoration. Replacing damaged ceiling tiles. General lighting checks.
  • Source materials from local suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Oversee contractors.
  • Assist other staff members as required. I.E., replaced AHU filters.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for colleagues.
  • Provide cover for colleagues in times of absence and on - call assistance.
  • Ensure that all work is completed to the highest standard.
  • Ensure a professional approach is always delivered with particular emphasis on maintaining confidentiality.
  • Liaise regularly with colleagues, supervisors and managers to ensure an efficient and effective service is always delivered to the client.
  • Provide a highly customer focused service to the company and client at all times.
  • Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
  • Adhere to all company policies & procedures, particularly to health & safety.
  • Any other duties as and when required.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate good use of basic hand tools.
  • Knowledge of a building trade i.e., carpentry, door & window locks, decorating, plastering & tiling.
  • Sound numerical ability for measuring and making calculations.
  • Have recognised C&G, NVQ qualifications.
  • Basic knowledge of current Building Regulations.
  • A thorough understanding of Health and Safety standards.
  • A professional approach with particular emphasis on maintaining confidentiality.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
  • Significant proven experience.
  • Be able to follow specific instructions.

  • Strong practical ability with well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Careful, accurate, logical and methodical approach to work, with high attention to detail.
