Job Title: Facilities & Operations Engineer

Location: Crewe, Cheshire

Duration: To start ASAP until 01/01/2025 - Possible extension

Pay Rate: £22.56 per hour PAYE

Hours: 08.00am to 16.00pm, 37+ hours per week, onsite

Adecco Recruitment are currently seeking a Facilities & Operations Engineer to join one of our prestigious automotive clients based in Crewe. Our client has won numerous awards and are viewed as one of the most luxurious brands.

Job Purpose

The Facilities and Operations Engineer coordinates Whole Vehicle Quality and Reliability workshop and testing activities. Responsible for maintaining the facility capability through maintenance and calibration and ensuring that the facility capability grows to meet new project requirements.

Main Responsibilities

Test Operations

  • Responsible for planning the daily Quality vehicle testing activities including test routes, driving profiles, standard testing and special testing
  • Responsible for coordinating the day to day activities of the reliability drivers, including running driver start of shift and shift handover briefings
  • Responsible for working with third-party driver suppliers to match driver capacity to changes in weekly demand. Responsible for monitoring supplier performance and conducting regular reviews with the supplier.
  • Responsible for creating and delivering training programmes to induct new drivers into the team and improve their ability to detect and describe technical issues
  • Responsible for devising and carrying out analysis activities in order to classify issues as 'Definite, Probable, Noise,' either though workshop or on-road investigations.
  • Responsible for recording issues using clear, concise problem statements with supporting information as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with testing standard work
  • Responsible for forecasting test operations related budget requirements. Examples include driver service provider invoices and fuel invoices. Excludes payroll and contractor costs.
  • Responsible for raising purchase orders for test operations-related work and approving invoices, ensuring that spend is allocated to the correct work centre and/or budget code.
  • Responsible for conducting the annual station cost rate review.

Workshop Operations

  • Responsible for planning the daily workshop activities, including PDI, servicing, repairs, updates, data logger fitment and analysis.
  • Responsible for prioritising the needs of internal customers including Whole Vehicle Quality and Reliability
  • Responsible for coordinating the day to day activities of the workshop technicians.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with workshop systems and standard work
  • Responsible for creating and issuing work instructions for pre-series cars where tasks are not defined in ELSA (excludes PHEV/EV).
  • Responsible for prioritising and planning workshop tasks (including PDI, servicing, repairs, updates, data logger fitment and analysis), allocating workshop resources.
  • Responsible for identifying capability and capacity gaps and seeking support from other internal and external partners as necessary (example: Engineering workshop, Swansway body repair)
  • Responsible for setting daily workshop performance targets (example: time to complete tasks) and establishing measures to monitor target achievement.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with company and department standards and procedures within the workshop (e.g. ALPOS workshop tasks, risk assessments, 6S).
  • Responsible for creating and reviewing health and safety risk assessments for workshop activity and ensuring that measures are put in place.

Facilities

  • Responsible for identifying any new workshop tools, equipment, consumables and systems required to deliver reliability projects, based on the product technical specification and reliability testing requirements.
  • Responsible for forecasting facilities recurring and non-recurring budget requirements. Examples include recurring equipment maintenance contracts and software licencing costs and non-recurring one-off equipment purchases.
  • Responsible for raising purchase orders for facilities-related work and approving invoices, ensuring that spend is allocated to the correct work centre and/or budget code.
  • Responsible for arranging the installation of workshop facilities
  • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance and calibration requirements for workshop tools and equipment are kept up to date.
  • Responsible for identifying and organising training requirements for the Reliability technicians.

Essential

  • Automotive background / experience
  • Knowledge within a workshop
  • Strong communication skills
  • IT Literate
  • Able to capture and resolve issues.

  • Recent position as a Workshop Manager
