Fabricator / Welder

Working hours: 46 hours per week - Mixed Day/Night shifts (Set shifts may be considered)

Nights - 18.30-6.30 ( MON TO THURS )

Days - 7.00-17.30 (MON TO THURS) / 7.00-13.00 (FRI)

Salary: £33k with an extra 3k on top for shift allowance.

Location: Chatteris, Cambridgeshire

As a welder fabricator, you will be responsible for joining different metals using a variety of techniques. Duties may include cutting and welding materials according to technical drawings, occasional  tests may be required depending on client requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Various aspects of welding & fabrication
  • Interpret engineering drawings for parts to be fabricated/welded
  • General mechanical skills
  • Ensure production timings are met
  • Create specific weldment set- ups and fixturing to meet geometric requirements
  • Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified
  • Rework and/or repair welded parts and products according to engineering specification changes.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
  • Prioritize work flow through effective communication with management staff
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

Education & Training

  • Apprentice trained or time served fabricator/welder with proven experience (Preferred)
  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills (preferred)
  • Specific technical or vocational training or certification (preferred)

Knowledge & Experience 

  • Ability to weld manually using both GMAW & GTAW processes
  • Robotic welding (advantageous)
  • Experience in the use of overhead crane would be an advantage
  • Knowledge and experience in exotic materials such as: duplex and austenitic steels but not limited to

  • Able to work from engineering drawings and work under minimal supervision to reasonable timescales
  • Exceptionally high personal standards, taking pride in the quality of your work
  • Hard working and motivated
  • Ability to work effectively and use own initiative
  • High attention to detail
  • Work in a team environment and respect all teammates
  • Manual handling
