We are seeking an Assistant Finance/HR Officer to provide essential support to our Business Manager, Senior Finance/HR Officer, and Executive Headteacher across the Schools’ Federation. This role requires a dedicated individual who can maintain financial and HR input effectively, ensuring accuracy and compliance with data protection laws.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Maintain school databases and recording systems related to personnel.
  • Assist with staff changes paperwork and input staff absences on SIMS.
  • Produce staff absence reports and assist with general enquiries.
  • Support the school finance team and communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Manage Petty Cash, Credit Card expenses, and input on the system.
  • Place orders, ensure accurate deliveries, and input orders on the Finance System.
  • Implement the school’s no debt policy and adhere to finance policies.
  • Handle invoice payments, cheque printing, BACS payments, and liaise with suppliers.
  • Maintain Purchase ledger entries and appropriate filing systems for retrieval.
  • Attend staff meetings, adhere to security and confidentiality policies, and stay updated with system changes and LEA procedures.
  • Work across Federation school sites as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualification/experience in Business Administration.
  • Good standard of education in Maths and English.
  • Experience in an office environment and with computers.
  • Clear communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use initiative and work co-operatively in a team.
  • Knowledge of Computer Database Systems, Financial Systems, and Bookkeeping.
  • Knowledge of HR procedures.
  • Good numeracy/literacy skills and effective use of ICT packages.
  • Good keyboard skills and the ability to relate well to children and adults.
  • Commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people.
