Exam Invigilator

We are seeking diligent and attentive Exam Invigilators to oversee our school exams starting in May 2024 and continuing until July 2024. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and smooth running of the examination process within various schools located in North and East London.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Setting up examination venues by arranging stationery, equipment, and examination papers as per strict guidelines.
  • Assisting candidates by directing them to their seats and informing them of the possessions permitted in the examination venues.
  • Providing advice to unregistered candidates and ensuring candidates adhere to silence rules within the examination venues.
  • Invigilating during examinations, addressing candidate queries, and managing examination irregularities strictly.
  • Monitoring attendance, recording details of late arrivals and early leavers, and collecting scripts from those leaving early.
  • Escorting and supervising candidates as required during examinations.
  • Collecting, collating, and ensuring the secure handling of examination scripts post-examination.
  • Supervising the orderly and quiet exit of candidates from examination venues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a higher education environment is desirable.
  • Understanding of examination processes is desirable.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach to work and the ability to relate to academic staff and students.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Smart and professional appearance.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Excellent timekeeping and reliability.

Additional Information:

  • Working hours will vary depending on the exam schedule, with normal hours between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
  • Enhanced vetting will be conducted on successful candidates, including an Enhanced DBS check at a cost of £38.
  • Candidates must provide fully checkable references for the last 5 years and proof of address.
