Our client provides resource, specialist design and delivery services including formal CDM appointments for rail and safety-critical infrastructure. They now require an experienced Estimator to join their team.

About the Role

As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in working winning and supporting achievement of the business growth targets. As a member of the growing pre-construction team, you will work under the guidance of the Head of Pre-Construction and lead the production and submission of the Company’s tenders’ submissions and support the pre-construction activities.

The role will be a flexible working arrangement to suit the demands of the business and the successful candidate split between their offices (Primary office in Milton Keynes area) and remote working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the business growth strategy within the pre-construction team.
  • Support the client relationship management for our pipeline and opportunities.
  • Ensure timely submission of compliant tender proposals on behalf of the Company.
  • Complete Bid-No Bid reviews as allocated in line with the Company’s process.
  • Review ITT documents as required to complete tender build-up.
  • Attendance at required tender meetings and site visits.
  • Complete take-offs for the build-up of the tender return pricing.
  • Issue request for quotations and manage receipt of supply chain quotes.
  • Manage our supply chain performance in the delivery and support of bids and tenders.
  • Analysis supply chain returns for compliance and select proposed supplier.
  • Create pricing build up from take-off and ITT information for Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Telecommunications and Minor Civils including material cost, effort/labour cost and plant and equipment cost.
  • Create management and project delivery prelim price build up.
  • Support the production of the tender programme.
  • Ensure adequate management and organisation of bids and tender progress.
  • Contribution to and drafting of quality responses for tender submissions.
  • Work with the wider Company’s team to support business critical activities as required.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experienced in production of MEPC tender submissions including pricing estimation and quality responses.
  • Ideally 3 to 5 years’ experience in estimating MEPC systems.
  • Experienced in commercial build-up of construction projects and industry rates and norms.
  • Knowledge of JCT and NCE contracts.
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards and regulations specifically British Standards.
  • Knowledge of Network Rail and LUL standards and processes.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as Excel, Word and power point, and ability to adapt to using new software as required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt and progress their career with a growing business.

Academic Achievements

The following is ideal however is not an absolute requirement if experience is deemed satisfactory.
