ESG Business Development Manager - Leading International Law Firm

Based in Liverpool, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Business Development professional with a real passion for ESG to join the award-winning BD team of a leading international law firm.

The firm have put sustainability, diversity, inclusion and the core principles of ESG at the heart of its business and seek to become a leading law firm that thrives commercially as a result of acting responsibly and advising clients on sustainability matters. You will be part of a Business Development team that is already well-established within the firm and which is respected by partners and other fee-earners for its high standards of service and the ideas and commitment it brings to business development activities. The role will sit within the firm's BD, Marketing and Communications team and will play an important role supporting the delivery of strategic business development plans for all four practice areas within the firm. The firm are seeking to recruit an established Business Development specialist to drive forward their ESG programme and continue the drive to support their clients in this area. Working on a range of sector and firmwide initiatives, you will be focused on taking the firm’s ESG programme to the next level. This is a fantastic opportunity for applicants who want to add real value to a firm and tangibly increase client awareness and profitable mandates in the ESG area. The successful candidate will work alongside the ESG team and Responsible Business Board to lead the delivery of the ESG BD strategy and raise the profile of the firm’s ESG capabilities internally and externally. You will work across the firm to communicate and confirm ESG priorities and coordinate BD strategies targeting work the firm wants to win, pursuing profitable and sustainable revenue growth from clients and sectors that are aligned in terms of sustainability goals and net zero commitments. You will be required to support pitch processes and client meetings from an ESG perspective and develop and foster relationships with key and growth clients and intermediaries active within ESG, supporting new client acquisition initiatives and identifying key sustainability issues, key target clients and routes to market. The role holder will also work with partners to respond to client and profile-raising opportunities and create marketing collateral and content enabling the firm to confidently pursue and win ESG instructions and develop ESG partnerships.

You will be able to demonstrate a strong commercial mindset combined with sound BD and marketing experience gained in a legal, professional services or financial services environment, to include demonstrable success in building or developing a practice or sector from infancy to a tangible offering. Previous experience of working in the ESG arena will also be crucial. With ambition, drive, likeability and a strong work ethic, the Business Development Manager will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a track record of building collaborative working relationships at all levels.
