We are seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Manager to lead the charge in developing and implementing cutting-edge environmental and sustainability frameworks that will shape the future for our Engineering client!

As the Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability.

This role is perfect for an experienced environmental manager who is passionate about making a tangible difference in the world one action at a time!

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and continuously improve environmental management systems to minimize our organization's impact on the environment.
  • Lead sustainable procurement efforts for all goods and services, ensuring alignment with our environmental objectives.
  • Coordinate pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy initiatives.
  • Implement and uphold environmental policies and practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Maintain proactive communication with local authorities, public bodies, and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct thorough environmental audits, analyse performance, and report findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Take immediate action in the event of environmental spills, conducting thorough investigations and implementing preventive measures.
  • Drive positive change in our business practices to minimize our environmental footprint and maximize sustainability efforts.
  • Make a real difference to the way in which our business impacts the world around us!

Personal Behaviours, Skills & Experience:

  • Genuine passion for the environment and sustainability and believe in the difference a company can make.
  • Demonstrable experience managing an environmental function or similar relevant field.
  • Ability to promote environmental awareness and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail for compiling accurate statistics and writing factual environmental reports.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of commercial responsibilities.
  • Ability to set sustainability targets, develop plans, and oversee their delivery through effective project management.
  • Previous team management experience preferred but not essential.
  • Formal Qualifications such as Degree/ Diploma in environmental management or similar advantageous.
  • Membership of IEMA or CIWEM beneficial.
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO14001.
  • Full UK driving license required; occasional overnight stays may be necessary.

Summary

Position: Environmental & Sustainability Manager

Location: Hybrid/ Site based with reporting to Middlesbrough office

Duration: Permanent

Benefits: £50,000 - £55,000 + 20% Bonus + Hybrid/ Fully Electric Car + Other benefits

Hours: Full-Time Monday - Friday

Start: Notice Dependant
