Role Overview

Within our group, the Enterprise Architecture function plays a pivotal role in aligning our technology trajectory with our overarching business strategy through three core service pillars:

  1. Oversight and governance of solution architecture for all transformative endeavors, ensuring alignment with technical standards, company policies, and guiding principles while upholding the integrity of the solution architecture and critical design decisions.

  2. Definition of solutions, as needed, along with furnishing architectural guidance and management services to facilitate seamless alignment with strategic objectives, compliance with policies, and adherence to standards throughout the change planning and execution processes.

  3. Introduction and maintenance of design governance principles and standards, tailored to evolving business demands and policies.

We are currently embarking on numerous strategic initiatives aimed at transforming systems and technologies across our business units and global regions. Consequently, we are seeking a highly adept and seasoned Business Solutions Architect with specialized expertise in the insurance domain, particularly within the London Market and Brokerage realms.

The Enterprise Architect will assume a pivotal role within the EA function, offering London Market and Insurance subject matter expertise for EA consultation and delivery engagements. Collaborating closely with fellow Enterprise Architecture and Engineering team members, this role will contribute to the delivery of Architecture and Engineering services, providing specialized assistance in:

  • Understanding and documenting current and future-state business processes and systems.
  • Translating business challenges and requirements into technology-agnostic solution possibilities.
  • Identifying avenues to address business challenges and facilitate the delivery of business outcomes.
  • Offering insights into modernization initiatives within the London Market and broader Insurance sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. London Insurance Market Expertise: Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the London Insurance Market, encompassing its distinctive practices, processes, regulatory landscape, and key stakeholders.

  2. Business Architecture Development: Proficiently capturing, documenting, and maintaining business architecture artifacts, discerning and analyzing business needs, processes, and capabilities, and proffering architectural solutions to enhance operational efficiency and spur business growth.

  3. Requirement Gathering and Analysis: Taking the lead in collaborating with architecture and engineering counterparts and business stakeholders to elicit and document business challenges, opportunities, and requirements, ensuring a thorough comprehension of business objectives and pain points within the London Insurance Market and broader Insurance domain

  4. Conducting thorough business process and systems analysis (as-is and to-be), documenting requirements, assessing solution options, and translating them into actionable architectural designs and strategies.

  5. Solution Design and Integration: Designing end-to-end solutions that address business requirements, leveraging existing and new systems and technologies, and assessing options to integrate business and technology change and embedding the change into the business operating model.

  6. Collaborating with business stakeholders, Architecture and Engineering team members, and other relevant functions to ensure the integrity of recommended solutions and seamless integration into business operations.

  7. Building strong relationships and effectively engaging with stakeholders across the organization, specifically business stakeholders, IT stakeholders, and third-party vendors. Developing collaborative, working relationships with stakeholders to understand business issues and address their needs while ensuring alignment between business objectives and architectural solutions.

  8. Providing SME level input for Architecture and Engineering team members on the latest changes and industry trends in the London Market and broader Insurance sector, focusing on change impacts, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Essential: Extensive experience in the insurance domain (Broking and London Market).
  • Essential: Good knowledge of insurance systems, particularly in the London Insurance Market, and expertise in ongoing and planned change initiatives.
  • Preferred technical skills: Experience with Microsoft Azure technologies, modern data platforms, and Business Intelligence technologies.
  • Desired: Experience leading large-scale business-critical transformation projects.
  • Desired: Familiarity with enterprise-grade CRM, HR, and Finance systems.

Professional Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Certification in Enterprise & Solution Architecture, TOGAF, or equivalent.
