A successful and forward-thinking engineering manufacturing business is searching the market for an Engineering Training Manager to join their growing team within the Portsmouth area. This business has been experiencing a stable period of expansion and success in recent years and have grown their customer reach to a global level, and cover various industries such as aerospace, automotive, telecommunications, medical and consumer electronics.

The position holder will be responsible for delivering sound technical training to engineering students with the business who are eager to build and develop their careers. Not only will the position holder be delivering a structure course, supplemented with wider materials and resources, but they should be able to impart their own knowledge and understanding for these students, specifically on technical matters relating to pillar drills, milling equipment and lathes.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Consistently teaching mechanical engineering skills to students in the academy.
  • Constructing lesson plans and designing long term schemes and programs for the students to advance their learning, ensuring that each lesson is prepared for.
  • Assessing the competence of students regularly and seeking supportive methods to address any issues.
  • Completing all relevant paperwork and documentation related to training and assessments, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Acting as a key point of contact and pillar of guidance for students who may have questions and queries relating to the training and/or engineering.
  • Safely and proactively reporting all and any incidents that occur through the correct channels provided. 
What you will need to Apply:
The ideal candidate for this role will have conducted similar tasks within a relevant and comparable role, although this is desired and not essential. Applicants must have a relevant engineering qualification and would also ideally have a subsequent teaching qualification too; however, this will be given by the company if not. Solid practical engineering experience, specifically in milling equipment, pillar drills and lathes, is mandatory and essential for this role, and applicants without this will likely not be considered. Highly developed communication skills are paramount in this position, as the job holder will be communicating and teaching people of all ages, upwards of 16 and from various backgrounds. Any previous classroom experience or the proven ability to deliver classroom-based training would be valuable.

The position holder will need to undertake a DBS registration and disclosure for this role.
