The Opportunity

Electrical Technician required to train, pass an HNC qualification and develop into a project engineer, becoming part of the next generation of engineers at an innovative rail business in Derbyshire.

This role will eventually mean being a technical leader for the client but will initially involve a variety of technical tasks such as writing maintenance instructions, providing feedback and guidance on design specifications as well as requiring the successful candidate to complete hands-on engineering tasks as required.

Location:

Chesterfield 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Leading a variety of Rail engineering projects
  • Fault Finding
  • Writing technical documents such as maintenance and modification instructions
  • Providing support and guidance to Design Engineers to ensure designs are fit for purpose

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be someone who is motivated to improve rather than fix problems. They will be driven to develop their engineering capability and be prepared to study as well as work to achieve it.

The role will involve technical aspects as well as requiring hands-on engineering work.

Essentials

  • Level 3 Electrical engineering qualification, capable of reading wiring diagrams
  • Able to write basic engineering documents
  • Technician experience in heavy transport or engineering environment
  • Clearly able to demonstrate desire to further engineering skill set

Desirable

  • Experience working within rail rolling stock engineering
