Engineering Manager - Nuclear Risk Management

Our Nuclear Engineering Managers are the focal point within our Engineering organisation supporting our existing and new high hazard facilities and operations. Engineering Nuclear Risk Management is the maintenance and upkeep of our engineer safety guards that support our nuclear safety cases and incorporates the periodic review of safety assessments.

Location: Aldermaston, Berkshire

Package: £44,990 - £65,000 (dependent on experience)

What will you be responsible for?

Partnering with the Senior Engineering Design Manager, you'll be ensuring the Engineering Requirements are suitable and appropriate by identifying options, selecting the appropriate solution and providing the right facility design solutions such that, for allocated work packages, they meet business needs and functional performance (through life performance), are licensable and deliverable. As Engineering Manager, you'll take control of the design intent and ensure design information configuration are maintained from facility design inception through to project handover.

We'd love to hear from individuals with the following:

  • The ability to work across business functions, providing a supportive interface between the Facility, Safety Case Subject Matter Experts and Technical Authorities

  • Previously taken responsibility for ensuring the quality and timely delivery of engineering design and outputs which underpins continuous safe operations.

  • Experience of working in a multi-discipline environment with responsibility for the engineering design and guardianship of high integrity assets through the whole life cycle

  • Able to articulate technical complexities, allocate duties to Project/Design Engineers and wider team to meet the programme.

  • Conversant in configuration and change control: governance, and implementation (ideally on a Nuclear Licensed Site, but not essential) including line of sight from maintenance results to the engineering schedule.

  • Previous experience of maintaining a live safety case and familiar with conducting assessments to support the Periodic Review of Safety

  • You will have a recognised, relevant qualification (HNC/D etc).

All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
