Responsibilities (brief):
This position will primarily support the data privacy team and the Data Protection Officers in the region on data privacy and protection and cross-border data movement (CBDM) matters, particularly in the context of a number of offshoring / outsourcing initiatives. The position will also help support the several regional Data Protection Officers (DPOs) to discharge their responsibilities.
- Providing practical, actionable advice to the bank and members of staff, including Business Process Owners (BPOs) of their data privacy and protection obligations, raising awareness within the bank of data privacy and protection
- Determining the need for, advising, reviewing and supporting on data protection impact assessments (DPIAs)/ Transfer risk assessments and other assessments such as the Cross border data management (CBDM), while taking a risk based approach, and advising the business and DPOs of any data privacy related risks and providing advice to mitigate those risks, also while coordinating and communicating with the global data privacy team.
Skills (brief):
Essential:
Relevant compliance or legal experience and an emphasis on data privacy and protection, including working experience on cross border data flows requirements to non-adequate jurisdictions e.g. to the US,India.
Preferred:
- Experience in the banking/financial services industry.
- Experience advising on data privacy issues within a complex, global organization.
- Knowledge of data protection laws outside of the EU/UK e.g. in Middle East/Africa.
