Ford & Stanley Interim- The Rail Recruitment Experts are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to work with CAF Rail UK out of Wednesbury depot.

The Opportunity

You will be carrying out Fault Finding and route cause analysis on Electrical and Electronic Systems on a brand-new state of the art fleet of Trams, identifying the root cause of any failures using a variety of diagnostic and testing software as well as in depth fault finding down to system and component level and performing any corrective actions required.

Location: Wednesbury Depot, Birmingham

Contract: 6month rolling contract (inside IR35)

Shifts: Monday to Friday- 07:30AM- 15:30PM (for 2 weeks)
            Sunday to Thursday- 22:00PM - 06:30AM (for 2 weeks)

Key Role and Responsibilities

Technicians are expected to be capable of working on the following types of systems, diagnosing faults, repairing, and replacing major components:

  • Troubleshoot using electrical schematics, test equipment, and diagnostic software, and carry out corrective repairs necessary to ensure the warranty of the new tram’s equipment, including:

* Traction Control and Brakes
* PIS, PA, and CCTV
* Passenger Access Doors
* HVAC
* Auxiliary Electrical Equipment
* Diesel Engines and generator sets
* High pressure hydraulics up to 300 bar
* High pressure pneumatics up to 12 bar
* Highly complex cab control systems including GPS positioning and On-track Safety Systems

* Wiring and integration of circuit breakers, relays, transformers, insulators, cabinets, motors, and other associated electrical parts

  • Use of a variety of electrical testing equipment including laptop computers with diagnostic software

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be electrically biased with experience working in Rail, Aerospace, Automotive or Ex-Forces in a similar level role.

Essentials:

  • Rail/Aerospace/Automotive/Ex-Forces experience
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) minimum qualification 
  • Fault finding and root cause analysis experience
  • Able to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematic diagrams
  • User of diagnostic software
  • User of test and measuring equipment such as a Multimeter

Desirables:

  • Rail/Light Rail experience
