Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent, site-based Electrical Operative to join our Walsall Street Lighting account. This role will be based on-site at Amey, 200 Pelsall Road, Pelsall, Walsall, WS8 7EN.

Amey has worked in partnership with Walsall Council since 2002 to improve and maintain the street lighting stock and standardising the lighting throughout Walsall. Amey has greatly improved the night-time environment across Walsall since the partnerhsip began. Electrical Operative plays an important part in carrying out all aspects of electrical installation and maintenance works on street lighting assets/highway furniture.

The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week - shift pattern to be discussed at interview

You will be responsible for:

  • Carry out routine maintenance including bulk change/clean of lanterns and sign poles
  • Excavate for column, bollard and sign foundations
  • Completion of daily work records and risk assessments
  • Working at heights of up to 12 metres
  • High demand for physical tasks i.e. digging
  • Provide support to other Amey contracts as required
  • Working outdoors in an environment of varying temperatures and weather
  • Attendance at regular tool box talks
  • There will be a requirement to work some unsociable hours and overtime and to undertake emergency call out on a rota system

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Appropriate qualifications relevant to street lighting
  • ECS card
  • CAT Scanner (Highways)
  • HEA 302 – Traffic Management
  • NRSWA – Street works, Ladders/step ladders User/inspector

In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have HEA training/qualifications, Banksman Slinger signaller and C1E or C1 to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
