Reed Engineering is currently recruiting for a Shift-based Electrical Engineering position based in Northfleet. The company, established over 100 years ago, specializes in refining lead and silver and is actively working on an ambitious plan to promote the Circular Economy in the UK’s metal industry.

They are seeking an Electrical Shift Technician to work an average of 42 hours per week on a shift pattern that includes both days and nights. The successful candidate should hold an HNC level qualification in Electrical Engineering or a similar field. Ideally, they will have at least 1 year of experience working in a hot metal or heavy manufacturing environment and possess a thorough understanding of the IEE Wiring RegulationsPLCsAC DrivesInstrumentation, and LV distribution equipment.

Key Responsibilities for the position include:

  • Carrying out shift-based duties, including breakdown repairplanned maintenance, and improvement programs.
  • Following a schedule of planned work, which includes inspectionservicing, and installation tasks.
  • Working on a wide range of electrical equipment, including up to 11kV under supervision.

The ideal candidate should be:

  • Physically fit, capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Experienced in electrical work within a hot metal or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledgeable about the IEE Wiring RegulationsPLCsAC DrivesInstrumentation, and LV distribution equipment.
  • Familiar with relevant International/British Standards.
  • Able to diagnose complex faults and handle multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in conducting risk assessments.
  • Skilled at networking and building professional relationships.
