Starting Salary: £25,545 progressing to £28,770 pa

Job Duties:
Do you want to make a positive impact and be part of an area of growth and challenge. The postholder will be part of the Statutory Attendance and Participation Team (SAPT), which support attendance, children missing education, elective home education (EHE), school aged employment and children in entertainment, who are committed to making a difference to children and young people’s attendance and access to education.

EHE, within SAPT, review and assess the suitability of education of all children and young people in Hertfordshire where parents have elected to educate their child out of the school system, and the team focus on engaging with parents, schools and professionals to ensure that there is understanding of expectations, providing advice, guidance, purposeful information and support where appropriate.

We’re looking for professionals with knowledge of Elective Home Education, excellent customer service and IT skills. Alongside the ability to work with and support the service to meet competing deadlines.

The EHE Coordinator role involves engaging with parents and professionals:

  • To receive, record and check children and young people recorded as EHE and communicate with a range of professionals when appropriate.
  • To provide advice and guidance to parents, schools and professionals.
  • To contact families and advise them of the expectations in relation the Elective Home Education, understand reasons for this decision and help them to identify any local support networks or universal support offers that may be available to them.
  • To input and maintain accurate and comprehensive database pathways as required and processing EHE requests from parents and carers.
  • You will strive daily to maintain, develop, and improve professional, supportive working relationships with parents, schools, and services in relation to EHE.
  • To work collaboratively with professionals across services to ensure effective case management, integrated working practice and successful outcomes for children.
  • Excellent organisation skills including an ability to work independently, systematically and work with conflicting demands.
  • Excellent customer service skills using verbal and written communication methods.
  • The ability to undertake a variety of administrative tasks, operating within departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Together with self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Some travel to meetings may be necessary.
Additional Information

There are tasks that require working in the community, for example meetings in schools, visits to families homes, and team meetings so you will need to have your own transport or be able to travel.

This is a demanding but interesting and varied role where you will be juggling daily with competing demands and priorities. working closely with parents, families, schools and professionals to ensure children and young people’s education is safeguarded within Elective Home Education.
