Do you have an interest within publishing or have an editorial background? Or do you have a background within a scientific environment?

Working for a fast-growing scientific company based North of the City, you will work across a portfolio of life-science journals. If you are an excellent communicator, with a strong administrative background and a willingness to learn, then this could be the role for you!

In return you will get 27 days holiday + bank holidays, a non-contributory pension (8% of salary), excellent onsite parking and public transport links. Hybrid working available (usually 2 days at home and 3 days in the office).

Duties & Responsibilities of the Editorial Administrator:

  • Manage the receipt of manuscripts and progressing them through peer review using the manuscript tracking system.
  • General administration including providing help and rapid response for system users (authors, referees, editors)
  • Maintain efficient and rapid record keeping using the database
  • Send out proofs to authors
  • Ensure all accepted manuscripts and relevant files are passed on to appropriate departments in a timely manner
  • Filing, archiving and prioritization of workload
  • Cover for other members of the journal team as required
  • Deal with author, referee, and editor telephone queries
  • Provision of support for the Managing Editor, News & Views Editor and Reviews Editors will also be required
  • Generate monthly journal statistics and transcription of interviews

What you will need to succeed as the Editorial Administrator:

  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are essential
  • Good team player and have enthusiasm, judgement, and integrity, together with a proactive approach and the willingness and ability to take initiative.
  • Flexibility, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to prioritise to meet deadlines
