The Role

  • To ensure that the standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained to the highest level and matches with the internal and external regulatory standards.
  • To work within the domestic team in maintaining high standards of, and safe practices in housekeeping across a service

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the cleaning of an agreed area, or accept specific duties as agreed with the housekeeping team. Including: Washing floors; Polishing floors; Vacuuming carpets; Washing and cleaning all work surfaces and toilets; Emptying waste bins; Tidying rooms and replacing supplies /stock; Laundry duties; any other additional duties according to the requirements of the day.
  • Report to your manager, or the Facilities team, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture or fabric, equipment or any potential hazard.
  • Adhere to the Centre’s disposal of waste policy.
  • To adhere to and maintain COSHH regulations, using appropriate cleaning materials as outlined during training.
  • Complete Cleaning schedule recording documentation as required in order to conform with regulations.
  • Working safely using correct warning signs, protective clothing and safety equipment, being mindful of hazards to other staff and students.
  • To be prepared to occasionally stand in for other staff members in times of absence or increased work load.
  • To work within professional boundaries and to communicate appropriately and effectively with all staff and people at the service.
  • To co-operate with the their staff support and appraisal programme.
  • To be responsible for and able to evidence own personal development by undertaking relevant training, attending meetings, conferences and events ensuring that you are updated in all matters relevant to the role within your
  • Personal Development Plan agreed with your Line manager.
  • To carry out all duties in a manner which is consistent with their policies, procedures and practices, Health and Safety and to maintain at all times the Christian objectives and ethos of the organisation.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Be aware of the legislation, regulations and procedures affecting the delivery of the service. This will include health and safety, fire precautions, moving and handling, hygiene and first aid requirements. Have the ability to respond effectively in any emergency.
  • Act professionally in all situations maintaining confidentiality at all times, only discussing personal matters in agreement with all concerned and in approved settings.
  • Follow the Centre’s dress code policy.
  • Carry out other tasks and responsibilities as are reasonably compatible with this job description, as and when required.
