You will provide direct support and oversight for professionals regarding DVA interventions of the highest standard applying our model of Restorative Practice. You lead by example, enable and promote current research and information on the changing areas for DVA.

Your new post

Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent Domestic Violence Lead. As an experienced practitioner within the domestic violence field, you will be leading on assessment and development of training within children's social care. This will include developing frameworks, resources and strengthening risk assessment practice. You will lead on assessment with perpetrators and support practitioners in the assessment of risk. Acting as the children's social care lead, you will ensure children living within high risk domestic abuse households are not exposed to safeguarding risk and reducing the trauma they are exposed to. The role requires developing frameworks and identifying training practitioners when ensuring children's safeguarding is a paramount consideration to prevent them being victims.

You will be required to link with external partners, professional groups and organisations to develop and identify training resources and funding, seeking grants where appropriate to support service development, working alongside SETDAB to strengthen resources and information sharing.

There will be no direct financial responsibility for budgets.

This position is a hybrid role with flexibility, but you will be required to be in the office minimum 2/3 days per week.

There is a need to assess with practitioner within the community, so use of a car is essential.


What you'll need to success

To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, be either registered with Social Work England or demonstrate substantial relevant experience working with domestic violence interventions and delivery of programmes. Suitable experience would ideally be within a probation background, behaviour assessments and/or working with perpetrators.
You must have a detailed knowledge relating to safeguarding children, social work practice as well as knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations guidance & policy issues relating to domestic violence.
