Domestic Violence Advocate

Join a passionate team as a Domestic Abuse Casework Coordinator, providing comprehensive support to victims/survivors of domestic abuse with complex needs.

Location: South Somerset - Sedgemoor

Contract Duration: 6 weeks +

Hours: 35

Salary: Up to £24.00 (via Umbrella)

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Conduct holistic needs assessments and develop tailored support plans
  • Advocate for clients, liaise with partner agencies, and ensure access to vital services
  • Welcome new residents, explain policies, and proactively plan move-on strategies
  • Maintain detailed case records and provide statistical reporting as required
  • Escalate safeguarding concerns and work collaboratively to address risks
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of your work

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Significant experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse or related fields
  • Exceptional needs assessment, case management, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, including on-call hours, to provide 24/7 support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-centred approach
  • Commitment to empowering survivors and addressing barriers to access

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience supporting clients with complex needs
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits, housing legislation, and legal options
  • Ability to deliver training or awareness-raising sessions
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills

Essential Criteria:

  • DBS on the update service or made within the last year and clean
  • 5 years of references
  • Good sound knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessments, and maintaining professional boundaries
