Background

Large FTSE house builder experiencing good growth is seeking to recruit a financial controller to support the divisional finance director and MD. This role requires a technically competent finance professional with a solid background in FP&A and commercial accounting.

Main responsibilities

  • Working alongside the FD and MD, contributing to the development of the region’s 5-year business plan
  • Developing financial business plans, budgets and forecasts and being fully accountable for their implementation and delivery
  • Highlighting opportunities to increase profitability and ROCE
  • Overseeing a first class, high performing finance team to service the needs of the region, with day-to-day management of the team and responsibility for their training, coaching & development
  • Supporting on due diligence exercises of new business/ land deals
  • Ownership of all aspects of financial reporting including delivering month end, review of journals, reconciliations and monthly management accounts with variance analysis
  • Working alongside the Land, Technical, Commercial and Sales teams to update the appraisals on a monthly basis, providing sufficient challenge
  • Ownership of the weekly/ monthly cashflow forecast, ensuring the Group has sufficient funding to deliver its growth plans
  • Ownership of the monthly board pack
  • Ownership of the annual budget pack

Key Requirements

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with a minimum of 5 years' PQE
  • Strong budget and forecasting skills
  • Strong academic background
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Driven, hardworking and ambitious
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
