Disabled Children's - Team Manager

Swindon Borough Council are looking to expand their current team. The Disabled Children's team is looking for a Team Manager to join a well-structured and organised team. As well as joining a supportive team our client also offers a competitive salary, opportunities for training to enhance your skills and potential progression within your team. This Disabled Children's Team Manager role will be for an initial 3-6 months with potential for extension subject to internal circumstance and your performance. Swindon Borough Council will also offer a flat rate of £50 extra a week for petrol if you live 50+ miles from the council.

Disabled ChildrenTeam Manager Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing a team of social workers plus with the support of an assistant team manager: making threshold decisions, chairing Strategy discussions, and initiating child protection procedures, chairing complex meetings overseeing assessments and court work. Managing budget as a budget holder and completing budget monitoring, auditing cases monthly, attending strategic meetings. Enabling staff to progress and meet their CPD requirements and planning staff training. Liaising with colleagues in education health and social care and being part of decision-making panels.
  • Leading the team to meet performance requirements and strive for best practice keeping the child or young person as the focus of planning
  • Recognizing trauma and attachment difficulties as well as mental health amongst the cohort of children with disabilities known to the team; using supervision and reflective practice to ensure cases don't drift and become delayed
  • Attending court and giving evidence and supporting social workers to write effective and innovative care plans that address the needs of the child or young person within agreed timescales and managing risk
  • Working virtually to ensure support remains as COVID has impacted upon provision
  • Supported the team to prepare and engage with recent Ofsted inspection for which I was praised

Requirements / Experience preferred:

  • HCPC Registration
  • 1-2 years post qualifying experience within the UK Social Care industry
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
