Company Overview

Our client is a global, innovative real estate consultancy, who work with a variety of high calibre and long-standing clients. They have some very large data centre clients across the UK and the Europe and they are now seeking a Project Director to work on a large project in Yorkshire.

They are investing heavily into bespoke technology and are ahead of the curve with digital innovation. 

They are now seeking a Project Director to join their Project Management team in Yorkshire to lead and grow their Data Centre team on a major local scheme. 

The Role

This role sits on the regional senior leadership team and will be responsible for a team of 10 project managers.

Main purpose of the role;
  • To lead and coordinate project activities, ensuring good communication and adherence to governance processes.
  • To understand, anticipate, inform and deliver great outcomes for their clients, every time, everywhere through your team.
  • To drive exceptional delivery, health & safety, commercial, risk management and quality performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • To develop a team of Project Management professionals with a strong pipeline of work across a range of sectors.
  • Lead the team and grow the business unit by attracting talent and delivering great work for a very busy set of clients. Have string input on bids and help win new clients.

Key accountabilities;
  • Helping to establish the overall success criteria for the project, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters. Through your team.

  • Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilised throughout the project.
  • Overseeing project planning, including producing the detailed project plan.
  • Over seeing the procurement of resource on a project 
  • Leading and facilitating the overall cross-functional project team.
  • Monitoring and applying performance management techniques.
  • Managing the change control process.
  • Monitoring and advising upon project finances.
  • Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Preparing formal project progress and other reports.
  • Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages.

Business development to include;
  • Identifying opportunities to develop new business with new and existing clients.
  • Assisting in the production of bid documentation.
  • Financial management – Ensuring prompt client invoicing and utilising FMS in order to monitor a project’s financial status.


The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a consultancy or data centre  environment and demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.

Desired experience includes;
  • Ideally a construction related degree or a similar construction related qualification with extensive technical delivery experience of large scale data centres.
  • Well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal.
  • Must have construction experience and the right to work in the UK.
