As the Director of Software Engineering, you will be the voice of the developer for all desktop experiences. You will be part of the Developer Productivity Engineering team and have the responsibility of overseeing software packaging and developing VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) and Desktop solutions tailored to the needs of developers. Your focus will be on understanding the developer personae, creating self-service capabilities, and enhancing the end-to-end developer experience for desktops. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure that connectivity, access, and security are prioritized throughout the software packaging process and Desktop/VDI experience.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Design, develop, and deploy solutions specifically tailored to meet the needs of developers, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.
• Focus on hyper automation of software packaging process using software packaging tools such as chocolatey, pacman etc.
• Drive the enhancement of the developer desktop experience by focusing on self-service capabilities and streamlining processes for increased efficiency.
• Collaborate with Security and End User Computing teams to implement end-point security measures including continuous patching and applying security policies to Bring Your Own Device" BYOD use cases
• Stay updated on the latest VDI technologies and trends, particularly those relevant to cloud computing, to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve developer desktop issues promptly, minimizing disruption and maintaining productivity for developers.
• Provide technical support to developers, addressing their queries and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the team and across the organization, encouraging knowledge sharing and creative problem-solving.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Strong knowledge and experience in developer solutions, including expertise in designing and deploying VDI solutions that meet the specific needs of developers.
• Understanding of software packaging processes and best practices to ensure efficient and secure delivery of applications to developers.
• Familiarity with developer personae and their connectivity requirements, enabling you to tailor solutions to their unique needs.
• Experience working with VDI in a cloud environment, with knowledge of cloud computing platforms and services such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Proficiency in software development methodologies and tools, enabling you to collaborate effectively with development teams.
• Knowledge of data center operations and management practices, ensuring compatibility and integration with existing infrastructure.
• Understanding of end-point security and compliance requirements, allowing you to implement necessary measures to safeguard developer desktop environments.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders at all levels.
• Continual learning mindset, staying up-to-date with advancements in VDI technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and improvement.
