The Company:

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Ladieswear Designer to join a reputable and established supplier of fashion to high street retailers. 9 Month Mat Cover (possibly longer)

The Role:

  • To undertake design projects and allocate to direct reports.
  • Support the Design Director on projects /tasks when requested.
  • Identify and understand the end consumer for specific retailers and their needs for effective range building.
  • Develop ranges and products for customers.
  • Produce accurate and detailed CAD drawings and artwork files for product sampling, ensuring that samples produced are accurate in line with specification.
  • Influence customers/buyers on market trends, fashion & Licensed-specific apparel.
  • Present ranges to Buyers including mood boards and research.
  • Daily contact with sales and technical teams within the UK office.
  • Develop and source new trims and fabrics.
  • Carry out trend research and analysis and create mood boards and colour trends.
  • "Comp Shop" trips within the UK + US/European travel.
  • Attend industry trade fairs and maintain a strong awareness of current product on the High Street.
  • Liaise with Licensors on a regular basis to ensure full and up to date knowledge of respective properties, to include attendance at licensor specific events, eg showcases.

Experience :

  • Mid (to High) level of experience working as a licensed apparel designer in required product area with strong commercial handwriting in a supplier environment.
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • The ability to guide others, particularly any direct reports.
  • Strong Customer Focus
  • Hunger for further & continuous improvement

  • Good time management and prioritisation skills
  • Professional personal presentation and good customer presentation and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • On-trend, with good commercial forecasting ability.
  • Possess a good understanding of fabric and trim bases, graphics and embellishment, garment specs/fits as required.
  • Strong CAD skills with excellent knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
  • Confident in range development with a strong ability to predict fashion and license trends and customise them into commercial products in order to meet the expectations of the customer.
  • Sound knowledge of garment construction as well as the ability to produce accurate and detailed spec drawings.
  • Highly organised and capable of working to and managing deadlines, working as part of a team and individually self-motivated.
  • Able to travel both in the UK and abroad.
  • Strong organisational skills and accuracy critical
