Job Description:

We are seeking a creative and skilled Design Technology Teacher to support schools in the Oldham area. As a Design Technology Teacher, you will inspire and empower students to explore their creativity, develop practical skills, and engage in innovative design projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and practical Design Technology lessons, covering a range of disciplines such as product design, graphics, textiles, and resistant materials.
  • Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to express their ideas, experiment with materials and techniques, and develop their problem-solving skills.
  • Integrate design thinking principles, industry-standard software, and emerging technologies into teaching practice, preparing students for future careers in design, engineering, and related fields.
  • Provide hands-on instruction and demonstration in workshop environments, ensuring the safe and responsible use of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students, providing additional support and extension opportunities as necessary to ensure all learners reach their full potential.
  • Assess student progress through a combination of formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their development and achievement in Design Technology.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and ideas for enhancing the teaching and learning of Design Technology across the school.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification, specializing in Design Technology or related field.
  • Relevant degree in Design, Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching Design Technology at the secondary level is preferred.
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for design education.
  • Proficiency in design software and technologies relevant to the field (e.g., CAD/CAM, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to staying abreast of developments in the field of design and technology education and integrating emerging trends and technologies into teaching practice.
