An exciting opportunity to work for an established lighting manufacturer with a history of designing and manufacturing innovative and creative luminaires. Their products integrate exceptional engineering, smart lighting technology and class leading performance with distinctive aesthetics. Joining an established team to design and introduce new products. Taking concept design through to manufacture.

Responsibilities

· Liaise with Product Designers to convert sketch work and concepts into 3D models ready for quotation, Design Reviews and prototyping requirements.

· Using CAD software for the development of ground up designs for Architectural and Commercial lighting including sheet metal, plastic injection mouldings, aluminium extrusions and die casting.

· Prepare information for quotation to be sent out to existing and new suppliers on new products or existing product re-designs.

· Store design evidence in the company ERP system.

· To produce 2D Assembly Drawings and Bill of Parts for Production to highlight how fittings are assembled.

· Ensure New Product Process is followed and relevant updates are added to the NPI tracking system.

· Be involved in Product Introductions with existing factory staff to ensure they are fully trained on all relevant new products.

Skills & Experience

· HNC or Degree in a Mechanical Engineering or Product Engineering discipline.

· 1-5 years CAD experience using Solidworks or Inventor.

· A knowledge of a broad range of engineering materials including sheet metal / extrusion / die casting / plastic injection moulding and CNC routed parts.

This is a permanent role, based in Wallsend.
