We have a great opportunity to join a family owned worldwide, business as a Specification Design Engineer. This company has a production facility based in Central Bedfordshire.

The Specification Design Engineer would offer technical help and advice to customers in order to find the right solution to their requirements. The design engineer would develop clear and accurate designs, specifications and proposals in order to sell the companies full portfolio of standard or bespoke products.

Key responsibilities for a Design Engineer

  • Provide technical product support and installation advice to both customers and the internal commercial teams.
  • Generate new sales opportunities by helping customers find the right solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Create and provide clear and accurate drawings, designs, specifications, and costs to support the commercial process.
  • Review customer specifications and drawings for sales opportunities (Take offs)
  • Accurate creation and control of both commercial and technical documentation to company
  • standards and procedures
  • Create and maintain accurate CRM data (MS Dynamics 365)


Essential skills for a Design Engineer

  • Passionate about delivering excellent customer service
  • Mechanical engineering or sheet metal design experience is highly desirable
  • Able to read/interpret construction/architectural drawings
  • 2D and 3D design experience using AutoCad, Inventor or Solid Works
  • Computer literate
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on maintenance tasks
  • Full UK driver’s license
