Job Role: As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of mechanical systems for commercial properties. Your responsibilities will encompass:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Conducting site surveys and assessments to gather necessary data for design development.
  • Developing detailed mechanical designs for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other building systems.
  • Creating technical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software.
  • Ensuring designs comply with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Reviewing and evaluating design proposals to optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Providing technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Conducting design reviews and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to resolve conflicts and ensure project success.
  • Keeping abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance design capabilities and innovation.
  • Collaborating with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to source materials and equipment for project execution.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for mechanical design and drafting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and building systems.
  • Experience in designing mechanical systems for commercial properties, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards relevant to mechanical installations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving design challenges.
  • Familiarity with building information modelling (BIM) software is advantageous.
