MEP Design Engineer with experience of designing MEP systems, in depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) principles and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP software is required for a well-established and leading design and construction company based in Enfield, North London.

SALARY: Circa £40,000 - £55,000 per annum (dependent on skills and experience)

The company does not have a fixed salary scale and will pay an appropriate and fair salary based on experience and abilities, the figures in this advert are merely a guide and should not hold back applicants with expectations outside this range

LOCATION: Enfield, North London (EN1)

This is a studio-based position, although all applicants should be willing to undertake occasional work-related travel to the USA and Europe and should not have any issues in their past that would prevent such travel and their ability to use the US ESTA scheme is vital.

As a MEP Design Engineer you will produce comprehensive and refined MEP drawings that adhere to established company standards, including wiring diagrams, plumbing schematics and annotated building sections.

DUTIES

Your duties as a MEP Design Engineerwill include:

  • Develop and model MEP systems within Revit using accurate and industry-compliant families
  • Contribute to a robust BIM environment by inputting and managing BIM parameters for all design elements
  • Produce comprehensive and refined MEP drawings that adhere to established company standards, including wiring diagrams, plumbing schematics, and annotated building sections
  • Perform essential MEP calculations such as plumbing system head loss and heat load calculations to ensure optimal system performance
  • Specify, design, and document hydronic heating systems that meet project requirements
  • Select fixtures and equipment strategically to comply with regional building codes
  • Contribute to design excellence by providing valuable insights and suggestions for MEP system improvements based on your expertise
  • Demonstrate an understanding of code compliance by effectively navigating and implementing regional MEP codes in diverse project locations
  • Collaborate effectively by attending project meetings and coordinating with the wider project team to ensure seamless integration of MEP requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven track record of designing MEP systems
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) principles
  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems, with ability to make fixture selections and understanding of pool filtration
  • Expertise in electrical systems design, including lighting and power requirements
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP software
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • A passion for creating functional and well organised mechanical areas
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively in both metric and imperial units, with a willingness to learn US building codes a plus
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with additional languages a bonus
  • Flexibility for occasional travel to the USA and Europe
