Design & Development Engineer
Job Title: Design and Development Engineer
Reporting to: Operations Director
Hours of Work: 42.5 hours per week
8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday (30 minutes unpaid breaks)
Salary: IRO £40 - 45K; to be discussed (commensurate with experience)
Role Summary
· Design and validation of new products; management of development projects and continuous-improvement tasks
· Responsibility for control of manufacturing work instructions, drawing register & bills of materials
· Problem-solving; root cause analysis & fault-finding of vehicles & products
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare all models, assemblies, drawings and build instruction SOPs for manufacture
· Work with technicians on prototype build and validation; support workshop activity
· Maintain register of all CAD models and drawings including revisions, quality and DFM reviews
· Design calculations from first principles when required; reverse-engineering of vintage components
· Maintain bills of material & standard operating procedures for existing & new products
· Manage project delivery including suppliers; identify, research and work with industry specialists
· Work with management team to define project scope, feasibility study, cost model and delivery plan
· Assist with our ISO 9001 accreditation process
Experience and Skills Required
· CAD experience with SolidWorks; working knowledge of GD&T.
· Expertise in low-volume manufacture techniques with practical hands-on experience
· Capable of working in a small team with limited supervision and support, in a dynamic environment
· Flexible, responsive & collaborative approach
· High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and visual quality
· Strong organisational, prioritisation and communication skills
· Ability to take initiative and ownership of issues, with a proactive can-do attitude
Desirable Experience
· Motorsport and/or classic vehicle experience highly desirable
· Minimum BEng Hons with 5 years' experience in a role utilising similar skills
