Deputy Manager (Children’s Home)

Location: Dover, Kent

Salary: £43,670 + Excellent Benefits

Job Type: Full - Time, Permanent (37.5 Hours)

The Client:

Our client is a leading childcare services provider, committed to delivering exceptional care, focusing on the welfare, safety, and security of every child.

The Role:

As a Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in co-managing the house budget, staff development, and overseeing placement plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee staff and young people’s development, formulate placement plans, risk assessments, and positive handling plans.
  • Ensure high-quality service provision, emphasising care, welfare, safety, and security.
  • Support the staff team in day-to-day tasks, serving as the lead person for role modeling and liaising with multi-agency partners.
  • Adhere to relevant legislation for Children’s Homes and promptly implement recommendations post-Ofsted inspections.
  • Collaborate with team members and professionals, notifying Local Authority Social Workers of significant events.
  • Undertake administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with firm's Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate effectively in the on-call duty system and complete required training within set timeframes.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Previously worked as a Deputy Manager or in a similar role.
  • Experience in a senior role within a children’s residential care setting.
  • Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations.
  • Possess Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Service or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Child Protection & Safeguarding.
  • Must be 20 years or above.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • NVQ or Diploma Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Residential Children’s Services or equivalent.
  • Relevant transferrable skills, such as First Aid training.
  • Understanding of Therapeutic Approach to Childcare.
