A fast-growing, family-owned, specialist seafood wholesale business is looking for a Depot Supervisor to oversee warehouse and logistic operations.
This is a new role in a dynamic, fast-growing wholesale company whose customers boast over 25 Michelin stars.

Type: Permanent, full-time
Working hours: Mon to Fri, 8am to 5pm, 8 hour shift with a 1 hour paid break
Salary: Dependent on prior experience
START: ASAP
Location: Billingsgate Market,London

DEPOT SUPERVISOR Responsibilities:

  • To oversee, co-ordinate and be responsible for the overall performance of the Billingsgate Day team
  • Attending daily handover briefings
  • Allocate work across the team & supervising:
    - Day Prep team
    - Cleaners
  • Vac packing & freezing down products
  • Overseeing and helping completing the day team’s tasks/projects
  • Vac packing
  • Receiving late deliveries
  • Processing returns
  • Overseeing maintenance contractors whist on site etc
  • Picking/packing late orders/Manchester deliveries
  • Tidying up and ensuring that the depot is ready for the night team
  • Co-ordinate holidays and other absences of the Day team to ensure there is adequate cover to perform the required tasks
  • Ensure that the Day team meets/exceeds its KPIs
  • Maintaining and updating operational processes and policies.
  • Provide Ops KPI information to the business
  • Liaise with the wider wholesale business and across all departments.
  • Ensure that all operational areas comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure correct Health & Safety training for all the team.
  • Health and safety records are kept up to date.
  • Ensure that correct PPE is be worn.
  • Ensure that the daily and weekly checks are completed accurately

Training

  • Ensure we continuously train, mentor and upskill the Day team
  • Ensure that there is adequate cover for holidays / absences.

Food Safety

  • This role requires Food & Safety level 3 minimum
  • Oversee the Cleaning team and ensure they complete their work to the high standards required
  • Support requirements for our SALSA accreditation
  • The correct Food Safety processes are implemented followed and all required PPE must be worn
  • All necessary paperwork is completed accurately

Sustainability

  • Ensure that we operate in a sustainable and we look to consistently reduce our environmental impact across our business


Depot Supervisor Ideal candidate:

  • Hands on and self-motivated experienced leader with excellent people management skills
  • Significant experience and understanding of food production, warehouse & transport environments
  • Experience of working with fresh fish / food products
  • Excellent organisational & implementational skills
  • Good / excellent IT / Excel skills
  • Commercial acumen to help deliver the Company’s financial targets.
  • HR, H&S & QA experience
  • Problem solver
