Job Description

This is a senior managerial position with responsibility for delivering and developing multiple customer contracts on a bonded site. This role will be heavily customer facing, so an approachbale attitude with strong customer service experience is essential. You will ensure that strategies and business plans are in place to achieve targets and drive business performance and growth whislt working towards KPI’s therefore strong business acumen is required.

As Depot Manager you will have full budget accountability for the site. You will have 4 direct reports whilst also overseeing the overall depot which has a headcount of 100+. This requires you to be driven, innovative and inspirational to be successful in driving the team to be the best to their ability.

General warehouse compliance and stock & inventory experience will also be essential in the day to day of this role.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all Great Bear operational activities on site
  • Assume responsibility for managing Health & Safety, personnel issues and facilities across the site in conjunction with the customer
  • Ensure that accurate financial targets are set, met and deliver improved financial performance through effective cost management
  • Engage with customers and their representatives, ensuring that their operational input is considered appropriately. Manage this relationship effectively
  • Strive for continuous improvement and suggest new innovative ways of working which could help to exceed the Company’s expectations and contractual terms
  • Ensuring all day to day operational requirements consistently meet the customers’ expectations
  • Exceeding customer key performance measures, holding regular customer reviews and managing and developing client relationships
  • Preparing customer annual budgets and working within those financial boundaries whilst delivering improved financial performance
  • Developing and implementing new initiatives and projects with the customer
  • Responsible for managing and developing the existing management teams and employee relations
  • Responsible for Operator Licence compliance and adherence

Qualifications

  • A demonstrable track record in managing high volume, high service driven transport operations
  • Track record of working closely with customers and able to illustrate examples of how they have improved the relationships
  • Ability to think and work both strategically and operationally
  • Should be a successful leader of teams, have positive personal qualities and attributes
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to converse at all levels
  • Experience of Open-book contracts, good numerical and commercial skills are essential
  • National CPC is essential
