Are you an experienced Debt Advisor looking for a new opportunity?

As part of the ongoing commitment to supporting our customers through the Cost of Living Crisis, SNG invests in a Customer Support Fund to provide additional services. This allows us to deliver grants for customers, energy support, job coaching, money coaching and money and debt advice.

We have a fantastic Fixed Term opportunity for a Debt Advisor to join our team until March 2025. You'll work from home and the Basingstoke office 2 day per week

The Role:

You'll be providing a comprehensive Debt and Money Advice to our customers on a day-to-day basis, taking a holistic view of their individual debts and financial circumstances.

You'll be working closely with some of our established teams and also our newly created roles to deliver a connected support service tailored to our customers. Ultimately supporting them to sustain their tenancies and improve their financial situation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver Debt Advice and Money Guidance to customers, understanding their financial position and identifying ways in which this can be improved, ireferring to other advisers/agencies where needed
  • Assist residents to prepare financial statements
  • Prepare and present cases to the necessary statutory bodies and negotiate with third parties as appropriate
  • Provide advice and signposting towards, training or employment, linking up with internal and external specialists to assist
  • Maintain accurate records of cases, in line with policy, procedure and legislation

Your experience:

  • Recent or current experience working in a similar role, providing advice, information and guidance to customers is essential
  • The ability to build rapport with great people, communication, and engagement skills.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to manage multiple cases at once.
  • A MaPs Accredited Debt Advice Qualification to Specialist/Caseworker Level (Institute of Money Advisers Certificate of Money Advice or Community Money Advice Level 4 Award in Debt Advice)  is desirable, but not essential

Please note: If you do not currently hold an Accredited Debt Advice Qualification, you may be required to complete Money Advice and Pensions Service (MaPs) Accredited qualification and The Institute of Money Advisers ‘CertMAP' qualification
