Communication Support Worker
  • Location: Greater Manchester
  • Salary: £20+ per hour
  • Contract: Temporary (for the remainder of the academic year), Full-time/Part-time

We are inviting passionate individuals to apply for the role of Communication Support Worker, where you will have the chance to profoundly impact the educational experiences of deaf students. This role is integral in providing equal access to education for students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide communication support to deaf students in various educational environments, ensuring they can fully participate in their education.
  • Utilise a range of communication methods, including British Sign Language (BSL), to cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Work in partnership with educational staff to modify learning materials and promote an inclusive learning experience.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student engagement and the success of communication strategies.
  • Support students in becoming self-advocates, promoting their independence and self-assurance within the learning environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A heartfelt dedication to the support and advancement of deaf learners.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate or an SEN Diploma.
  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) and strong spoken English communication skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate patience, adaptability, and a willingness to cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Experience in an educational setting is beneficial but not essential.
