Communication Support Worker
  • Location: Greater Manchester
  • Salary: £20+ per hour
  • Contract: Temporary (for the rest of the academic year), Full-time/Part-time

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Communication Support Worker to join our educational team. This role is crucial in supporting deaf students and ensuring they have equal access to educational opportunities. If you have a passion for making a difference and possess the necessary skills to support students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND), we encourage you to apply.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Facilitate effective communication between deaf students, teachers, and peers in various educational settings.
  • Employ a variety of communication methods, including British Sign Language (BSL), clear speech, and notetaking, to meet individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with educators to adapt learning materials and foster an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Keep detailed records of student progress and the effectiveness of communication strategies.
  • Empower students to advocate for their own needs, fostering independence, confidence, and a supportive learning atmosphere.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A strong commitment to supporting deaf learners and enhancing their educational experiences.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate or an SEN Diploma are preferred.
  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) and excellent spoken English communication skills.
  • The ability to be patient, flexible, and adapt to various learning styles and requirements.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
