Data Scientist

£500 per day (OUTSIDE IR35)

6-month contract

IT consultancy looking for Data Scientist who would be responsible for solving complex business problems and discovering business insights using quantitative disciplines (statistical, algorithmic and mining) and visualization techniques.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in gathering information from various sources and analysing. Real world use of statistical and analytical methods plus AI tools to automate specific processes within an organization and develop smart solutions to business challenges.

Experience to include:
• Data mining or extracting usable data from valuable data sources.
• Using machine learning tools to select features, create and optimize classifiers.
• Pre-processing of structured and unstructured data.
• Enhancing data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems.
• Processing, cleansing, and validating data integrity.
• Analysing large amounts of information to find patterns and solutions.
• Developing prediction systems and machine learning algorithms.
• Propose solutions and strategies to tackle business challenges and be able to present results and management information in clear manner
• Collaboration with Business and IT teams.
• Programming Skills - knowledge of statistical programming languages like R, Python, and database query languages like SQL desirable. Familiarity with C#, Scala, Java, or C++ is an added advantage.
• Technical Product Application Lifecycle Management, including as a minimum a solid understanding of Git Source Control, Branching and Merging.
• Experience of large-scale, cloud-based Data Lakehouse technologies e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Spark, Azure Fabric, AWS Redshift, AWS Lake Formation.
• Machine Learning - knowledge of machine learning methods and how these can be applied.
• Experience of AI/GenerativeAI technologies, e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI.
• Evidence of strong mathematics skills.
• Data Wrangling - proficiency in handling imperfections in data
• Experience with Data Visualization Tools that help to visually encode data.

Beneficial:
Relevant vendor certifications (e.g., such as Microsoft Designing and Implementing a Data Science Solution on Azure - DP-100)
