My client are seeking a Data Engineer to manage and enhance the Data Engineering capabilities within the Digital Services Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing data access mechanisms to ensure they are fit for purpose across the organisation. This role is integral to improving the robustness and accessibility of our data and digital systems.

 

Location: Hindlip
Job Type: Full-time - Hybrid working offered.
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of new BI capabilities in support of the analytics strategy and vision.
  • Provide support to the analytical community by granting access to data sources and maintaining semantic access layers.
  • Capture business requirements, translate them into specifications, and implement data access for analysts to create reports and dashboards.
  • Adhere to IT change processes and act as a liaison between IT and Strategy, Planning, and Insight.
  • Develop and configure Business Objects Universes with appropriate development and testing approaches.
  • Develop and configure PowerBI datasets and workspaces.
  • Collaborate with others to develop and document domain knowledge of key systems to maximise data value.
  • Play a leading role in the strategic development of analytical capabilities.
  • Work with the Data Management function to understand and address data quality issues.
  • Undertake other duties as required, in line with the nature and level of responsibility of the post.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Solid understanding of Business Intelligence toolsets and end-to-end data infrastructure.
  • Data literacy and development of domain knowledge.
  • Knowledge of logical and physical data modelling concepts.
  • Understanding of data integration issues, familiarity with complex data and structures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of analytical processes, techniques, and skills.
  • Hands-on development of BI tools and analytical products.
  • Experience with data warehousing solutions is advantageous.
  • Previous experience with policing data and knowledge of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) would be beneficial.
  • Strategic development of Business Intelligence capabilities.
  • Business Objects Universe Development and PowerBI dataset development.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
