Data Systems Engineer
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Location: Norwich/Ipswich/Cambridge - 3 days in the office, 2 working from home.
  • Salary: £40,000 - £42,500

Working with a leading professional services business who are setting up and growing their data function, we are seeking a Data Systems Engineer to join their Data & Systems Team within the IT Development Team. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for data analysis, manipulation, and processing using ETL/ELT techniques. You will also be involved in 3rd line support for internal and third-party systems, DBA tasks, and database deployments.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Implement solutions and deployments in collaboration with the Data and Systems team.
  • Instil a culture of continuous improvement within the team and in data-related system design and development.
  • Maintain industry-standard technical knowledge and stay up to date with current trends.
  • Provide 3rd line support for internal and third-party systems.
  • Perform DBA tasks and manage database deployments effectively.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Data-related qualifications or relevant field experience.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful ETL/ELT processes.
  • Strong understanding of data and analytical processing technologies, including transactional databases, SQL Server, various cloud platforms, and services.
  • Proficiency in RDMS, particularly SQL Server 2016 and above.
  • Experience with APIs and integrating systems using 3rd party APIs.
  • Familiarity with Azure data factory, event hubs, and data bricks.
  • Good understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary and perform additional job-related duties.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Positive and enthusiastic team player.
  • Highly analytical and self-motivated with a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
