Data Engineer - Middleware / API

£40,000 - £45,000 P/A

X1 day per week on-site in Walsall

We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Engineer with expertise in Middleware and API development to join our clients team. As a Data Engineer, you will work closely with the Business and Solutions Team to analyse business requirements, provide accurate estimates, and develop solutions that adhere to Middleware best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Business and Solutions Team to scope out work requests and development requirements.
  • Analyse business requirements, provide accurate estimates, and present solutions clearly.
  • Evaluate, assess, and recommend solutions that fit with Middleware best practice.
  • Develop all required documentation, prototypes, and software, working with your Peers in the Development and Solutions team.
  • Lead integration development activities, working with the Solutions Team to turn the vision into reality.
  • Manage development implementation, ensuring work assigned to you is completed on schedule adhering to department quality standards and processes.
  • Collaborate with the Support and Test teams to ensure all solutions are fit for purpose, tested comprehensively, and supportable.
  • Provide support and training for the Support team for in-house developed systems.
  • Document systems and changes made clearly and thoroughly.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in middleware development and apply them to projects as appropriate.

Technical System Skills:

  • Competence in contemporary Middleware platforms like Mulesoft, Azure Data Factory, and Google Apigee/Application Integration.
  • Proficient in developing APIs compliant with Open API standards (version 3.1.0).
  • Robust programming aptitude, with a focus on languages like Python.
  • Familiarity with Middleware technologies such as ActiveMQ and pub-sub queues.
  • Knowledgeable about technical principles like caching, connection pooling, threading, and transaction management.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with ETL best practices.
  • Proficiency in utilising Azure DevOps and managing GIT repositories.
