Data and Systems Analyst

To support all aspects of management information in the College. To ensure appropriate reports are created, facilitating the effective management of College processes, efficient teaching, data analysis and ultimately student success.

Role is term time only + 2 weeks based onsite (remote or hybrid arrangements are not available)

Key Tasks

Catholic Mission and Ethos

  • To work with all staff and students to uphold the Mission of the College.
  • Support the Catholic ethos of College by being an example of servant leadership and upholding the teachings of the Church.

Technical

  • To ensure integrity, accuracy and completeness of learner data.
  • To diagnose and resolve data and systems related problems.
  • To assist in the management, maintenance and support of college data systems, including the core MIS (Civica College Management, formally REMS) and those relating to registration, online applications, access control and cashless catering.
  • To provide accurate and clear data analysis and reporting to internal & external stakeholders.
  • To develop and maintain reports using SSRS, Power BI & SQL Server.
  • To maintain an accurate understanding of all matters relating to Data Protection / GDPR and to support compliance across the College.
  • To respond to Data Protection and Freedom of Information requests as they arise.

Teaching and Learning

  • To support the Data & Systems Manager in facilitating student enrolment and timetable production.
  • To support teaching and learning by ensuring all data is readily available for staff to use.
  • To advise staff on efficient methods of accessing information and to provide training for staff in the use of data and systems.
  • To be the lead ALPS Connect practitioner, ensuring data is complete & accurate, and ensure staff are able to use the system effectively.

Quality of Provision

  • To analyse and present College data to support teachers in delivering high quality lessons and enabling them to identify students that are under-performing.
  • To help ensure that College data systems facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of teaching, learning & assessment, to help maintain high academic standards.
  • To support and lead data and systems training for colleagues.

Curriculum, curriculum enrichment, admissions, student enrolment, UCAS process

  • To support the annual student enrolment process in conjunction with the admissions team.
  • To manage the data requirements of the enrichment programme and the annual HE & Careers Day, including the sign-up processes, allocation and scheduling, and communication with students and staff.
  • To support in the organisation of Open Day each year.
  • To support the data aspects of the UCAS application process, including management of Unifrog data requirements.

Leadership and Management of data across the College

  • To assist in the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and user documentation covering the MIS functions.
  • To analyse and report on data relating to equality and diversity.
  • To provide data to support senior colleagues in preparations for external inspections.

Support Administration & Technical (A&T) Services

  • To support all Administration & Technical teams regarding their use of data, systems and processes.
  • To support the Admissions process, particularly regarding systems integration & data migration, data analysis to support the offer process, and event scheduling.
  • To support the Exams team by analysing results data, and reporting on performance.

External agencies and other Stakeholders

  • To support in the production of accurate data returns including the ILR and others required by funding bodies, local authority, diocese and other agencies.
  • To work collaboratively with local schools and colleges to share data as and when required.
  • To support in ensuring effective and accurate communication with parents and carers.
  • To liaise with external software companies to ensure systems are developed to specification and fit for purpose, to guide future developments, and to ensure that versions, software patches and other fixes and kept up to date.

Other Duties as directed by the Principal

  • To maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality.
  • To undertake training and personal development in order to keep up to date with developments in the sector and with technologies relevant to data management.
  • To act at all times in accordance with the College's Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity and Data Protection policies.
  • Other tasks as prescribed by the Principal.
