Location: Tamworth

Salary: Up to £20.75 D.O.E plus shift allowance for nights

Company based in Tamworth, at the heart of the UK's manufacturing region. Specializing in manufacture of gears and splines. Working across both motorsport and aerospace industries, they are looking increase their work force due to expansion.

The Role - Skilled Cylindrical Grinder

Under the direction of the supervisor, the Skilled Cylindrical grinder sets up, adjusts, and operates a variety of surface grinding equipment to grind gears and gear shafts having very tight tolerances and finish requirements according to specified dimensions and company quality standards.

Skilled Cylindrical Grinder's check list:

  • Minimum 3 years of trades training or equivalent experience and two to four years of related machining experience with cylindrical grinding.

  • Have experience working on sub .005mm tolerance.

  • Work from detailed drawings, process sheets, tooling instructions, and standard charts to identify component/manufacturing specifications.

  • Enter data into ERP system.

  • Must have extensive knowledge of Cylindrical Grinding processes.

  • Able to operate multiple machines and have experience with Jones and Shipman machinery.

  • Compute such data as dimensions, rotation speeds, feed rates, and machining times.
